Dewitt "Jack" Ferrell flew thirty-three combat missions into Korea from the aircraft carrier USS Boxer. A Naval Reserve Commander and airline pilot, he also flew aerial photography assignments and served as Chamber of Commerce Director and as Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts in Tennessee. During his life, he had the exceptional opportunity to associate with many heroic persons who inspired him to write this book.

"My Heroes" is an inspirational tale of love, dedication, sacrifice, and service. Jack Ferrell's description of his days as a NAVCAD reminded me of my own experiences as an Air Force Aviation Cadet (minus the thrill of carrier operations) and it was easy to imagine myself in the cockpit of his airplane when he vividly described his missions." - Mack Angel, Lt. Col, USAF (ret)

Navy Wife

Navy Wife is a tribute to the late Frankie Sue Abrams Ferrell, devoted military wife and mother. The book, written by her husband, retired Navy Commander Dewitt T. Ferrell, Jr. (Jack) tells the story of her early life growing up in Oklahoma and the tragedies she endured as a child and teenager. Jack was a Navy pilot when she met and fell in love with Frankie Sue, and before they knew it, the pair were married and navigated Navy life as partners.

This partnership was particularly hard on the young wife due to her husband being away at sea for months at a time, and when he was back on land, they didn't live in one place for very long. Nonetheless, the young wife soon became accustomed to the ups and downs of Navy life. The struggle became even more real after the couple started a family, and learning to juggle the children and Jack's schedule proved hard but fulfilling. This book is a touching legacy that explores the many issues that face Navy spouses and how this one wife in particular rose to the challenge with dignity and grace.

Wanna Be a Fighter Pilot

This book is primarily about the 100-year history of "Dog Fighting" fighter pilots taking control of the skies in times of war.

In today's world of the Mig-29 versus the F-18 Super Hornet... Everything has changed in the realm of supersonic fighter planes with speeds of Mach 2.5 (F-15 Eagle) of fighter planes. It is now missiles and long-range acquisition radar. Skill is still involved, and the U.S. Navy's Top Gun School is keeping up with that fast-changing technology. The old tuning radius is still important but other factors have entered into the equation that now means high-cost super jet fighters and the world of technology have put the old "Dog Fighters" out of business. The "gun" is still an important item and the bigger and faster the cannon shell the better. One 30mm cannon shell will destroy any fighter. The kids on the computers will be the ACES of tomorrow.
